 Bidbury Bedhampton pupils are switched on to renewable energy!

PUPILS made light work of a project for an energy company.
The youngsters from Bidbury Junior School, in Bedhampton, had nothing but bright ideas when Southern Electric asked them to come up with some renewable energy themed paintings and drawings.
They were given recycled paper templates in the shape of light bulbs and the resulting paintings covered a whole variety of renewable energy subjects.
The first winner, Katherine Marris, was praised for her beautiful artwork which even incorporated a windmill with rotating blades.
Imaginative second prize winner Lewis Curnow was singled out for covering all renewable energy subjects.
Rea Thind received third prize for good renewable energy descriptions and energy saving ideas.
Staff from Southern Electric, based in Havant, visited the school and taught pupils the differences between renewable and non-renewable energy and encouraged them to come up with energy saving ideas.
Lorraine Hansell, from Bidbury, said: ‘We were introduced to the staff from Southern Electric before the summer holidays because we are interested in community cohesion, and this also fits in with other school curriculum work connected with science and design technology.
‘It’s been a learning process all round and a real success – we’re looking forward to working together again.'
